Chile, a long and narrow country in South America, is becoming a leader in the foreign trade market, as the country is a model itself for elevation out of poverty. Although about 18.2% of the population still lives before the poverty line, the economy and political status is becoming more and more stable. Being on the coast and in a highly mountainous region, however, Chile has been susceptible to a range of natural disasters, including severe earthquakes.
