A Better Footprint (formerly Worldgoods Fair Trade) is a proud member of the U.S. Fair Trade Federation and Green America.

In our store, we have the following worldly goods, but you really need to see them to understand the craftsmanship, culture, and beauty in them. We also host home parties and give the hostess lots of free fair trade gifts for helping us spread awareness about poverty and other global development issues.

Fair Trade Jewelry - Necklaces, Chokers, Pendants, Recycled Glass Beads, Zulu Love Beads, Earrings, Rings, Tennis Bracelets, Latch, Clip and Adjustable Bracelets, Sterling Silver, Genuine Gemstone Jewelry, Collections / Sets, Stone, Wood and Shell Jewelry Boxes. Our hand carved Earring Stand / Earring Tree is also a very popular and functional item. Countries: Various, including India, Peru, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Gambia, U.S., and Mexico.

Fair Trade Agriculture Products - Organic and Flavored Coffee, Tea, Chocolate, Cocoa, Cashews, Olive Oil. Most products certified organic by Oregon Tilth, certified Fair Trade through TransFairUSA or Fair Trade Federation. Each item is appropriately labeled. Countries include: Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Honduras, Palestine, India and more. Our Fair Trade Wine is only available as a gift item for individuals who help us spread awareness about Fair Trade through a fundraiser or home Fiesta. The Fair Trade wine is Etica from Chile.

Fair Trade Clothing - Currently our hand loomed and hand batik clothing comes from Avatar and Global Mamas / Women in Progress. Our organic clothing lines include Maggie's Organics and No Enemy. Items include baby onezies, rompers, dresses, pajamas, caps, socks and tights. Items for teens and adult include t-shirts, blouses, fashionable dresses, pants, capri pants, halter tops, sarongs and wrap around skirts, cotton and silk scarves and more. Countries include: Nepal, Ghana, Nicaragua and the United States.

Fair Trade Purses and Handbags - We have shoulder bags, tote and beach bags, Yoga Drawstring bags and more from the hands of Women in Ghana, Africa. We also have hemp, cotton, and recycled silk purses and handbags from Nepal and we occasionally get beaded purses and evening bags from India and Tibetan refugees. Men's bags, briefcases, and Rasta colors are also currently available.

Fair Trade Home Decor - Provides our largest selection, ranging from natural onyx stone candle holders to Peruvian Ceramic Pottery and vases. Other popular items include bronze statues, soapstone carvings, olive wood nativity scenes, onyx apples and pears, wood animal carvings (ironwood, mahogany, ebony, odum and sesse woods), stone sculptures and carvings of animals such as lion, elephant, giraffe, dolphin, and more. The recyled steel and oil drum metal art from Haiti is beautiful and for many artisans, the only escape from abject poverty. We have items such as magazine racks, baskets, and art (most of which we categorize differently). Our list of countries for home decor is quite extensive, including Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Haiti, The Gambia, Rural China, Pakistan, Ghana, Kenya, (Israel) West Bank, Zimbabwe, Peru, Indonesia and South Africa. We are constantly adding products and working with new organizations to maximize our impact in countries not served by Fair Trade Markets and to provide the consumer with an abundance of choices.

Fair Trade Kitchen and Dining Room - Bringing ethnic foods and world culture to your table is a great way to expand your global household! We have olive wood salad serving sets, bowls of all sizes, bone and wood napkin rings, cheese boards, bread cutting boards, animal wine corks (very popular!), Wine and Mud Cloth Aprons, Soup ladles, salt and pepper shakers, baskets, open zulu bowls, batik tablecloths, lace table runners from India, placemats, cloth napkins, pot holders, and more in customizable designs. Our Chichi tablerunner is a bright display of Mayan colors and will brighten any table. Countries: Guatemala, India, Argentina, Kenya, South Africa, Ghana and the United States. Fair Trade Gambian products coming fall 2007.

Other Fair Trade Textiles - In addition to other textiles, we have kente cloth strips from various West African nations, silk and cotton confetti scarves from Nepal, pillowcases from Vietnam, and antique Hmong Blankets from Laos.

Fair Trade and Multicultural Art - Worldgoods owners really enjoy selling the fine art of Heidi Lange and Ashley T. Samson, in addition to other forms of African and Multicultural Art. The art includes prints, Maasai watercolors, wood reduction, oil on canvas, tye dye batik and hand painted batik, african tribal masks, and other beautiful carvings.

Fair Trade Unique Gift items - Perhaps our most popular is the Soapstone Fair Trade Eyeglass Holder from Kenya and our wood glasses holder from India. Often called our "noses," these are a great and affordable gift for mom, dad, grandpa, uncle, or just about anyone who wears glasses or sunglasses. Many of our stone and wood lovers statues are popular anniversary, wedding or engagement gifts. Our family and mother and child statues are popular for Mother's Day and more. Fair Trade Instruments - African Cora (Kora) instruments, Dan T'Rungs, Djembe Talking Drums, Calabash Xylophones, Bamboo drums and Rain Sticks and Ocarinas (Fish Whistle) are just a few of the fair trade and world instruments offered through Worldgoods. Countries: Guatemala, Gambia, Peru, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire.

Fair Trade / World Music - We proudly sell Putumayo World Music and have a variety of titles. We also can special or custom order the type of multicultural music you'd like from the entire catalog, for your home or school! We sell the World Playground Multicultural Activity Kits for kids and students as well, which take you on a journey around the world.

Fair Trade Baskets - Natural Dyed Coil Raffia Baskets from women in Uganda, East Africa, Ukhamba beer baskets of small, medium and large sizes from South Africa, Mbenge, Gokwe, Isiquabetho and Iqoma (open Bowls). Perhaps our most popular are the traditional extra large Bolga Baskets from Northern Ghana that are large enough to serve as picnic baskets or for use as silverware holders and more at highly attended events such as weddings. The natural colors interwoven with bright reds, yellows, and greens in addition to sturdy leather or woven handles make these beautiful and functional.

Fair Trade Furniture - Much of our sesse, odum and mahogany wood accent and coffee tables come from Ghana. Our most popular is the large detailed "Good Luck" elephant in motion table with Gye Nyame symbol. We have sustainable bamboo patio furniture and wicker magazine racks, a wine rack, Ashanti stools and chairs. Most of our furniture is from African Creations (Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire).

Religious and Holiday - We have wooden, brass, and stone crosses, religious pendants, beaded eggs from Indonesia that take a whole day to create, Kwaanza candle holders, Star of David Sterling Silver Rings, rosaries, Muslim prayer beads Nativity Sets, Greeting Cards, Bible Versus, Ashley T. Samson Jesus "Crown of Thorn" original art and more. We have spiritual yoga items, Tibetan Ghau and prayer symbol jewelry, as well as Buddha and dieties on handmade paper lanterns. Much of our religious and holiday stock rotates, so if you don't see something on our website please call to ask if we have a particular item available in small quantities.

Fair Trade Toys and Games - featuring "Bao" the Kenya Mancala Game, Mayan Art Coloring Books, Articulated Animal Pens, Beaded Pens, World and Latin Activity Kits. Coming soon for the 2007-2008 school year is Make your own Chocolate, Gummi Bear, and Chewing Gum kits that provide a hands-on adventure with natural materials and the story of a child whose family grows the products. For the little ones, we offer a Warming Snuggle Bunny from UPAVIM in Guatemala - just put it in the microwave and the rice inside the bunny stays warm and is a baby or toddler's best friend!

Fair Trade Books and Educational Items - Although many of our toys and games are entirely educational, we also have children's books such as the newest one by Diane Abad Vergara called "Zapizazu Crosses the Sea." Diane is from New Zealand and her husband Jaime is from Colombia. We're all about Multicultural Education, Fair Trade Awareness, and sustainable choices and our in-store books and titles may vary from time to time as we rotate titles.

Fair Trade Accessories - We have cotton reversible belts, Maasai beaded leather sandals, Coat Hooks, Bamboo Hangers and so many more miscellaneous items!
